Harpoon Vermont Spruce Tip Ale

Harpoon Brewery has a special, limited batch series they call 100 Barrel Series.  The series showcases the brewing talents and creativity of the different Harpoon Brewers. Each batch of the series can range from experimental styles to interpretations of old favorites.  Every few months a different Harpoon brewer will brew test batches that eventually leads to the final recipe and a special series beer.  The bottle label has the brewer’s signature on it for their batch.

The latest series, 100 Barrel Series #39 Vermont Spruce Tip Ale has been released.  Tom Graham was the brewer for this hearty ale using spruce tips harvested earlier this year from Downer State Forest in Vermont.

This ale uses a combination of malts and Chinook hops to complement the spruce flavor.   Citrus, pine, spice, herbal and earthy notes are attributes from the spruce tips.  Because of these notes, this ale pairs well with hearty meals.

About Harpoon Brewery

Dan Kenary and Rich Doyle, the founders of Harpoon Brewery, started it because of their love of beer and the desire for more good beer choices. For over twenty years they have been making great beer and sharing it with others.  The breweries are located in Boston, Massachusetts and Windsor, Vermont.

“At Harpoon, we have always worked hard at two things:  brewing great beer and welcoming our customers to our breweries.  Our beer styles were created to provide you, our beer-drinking friends, with fresh, fun and interesting choices.  We draw on numerous brewing traditions to make our beers, but we always add our own “interpretation” of how the styles can be best matched to our – and your – tastes.”
