Samuel Adams just sent us their e-mail newsletter and in it they announced that they will releasing two new beers soon

  • Samuel Adams Alpine Spring
  • Samuel Adams Whitewater IPA

Samuel Adams Alpine Spring

Alpine Spring, a new spring seasonal beer, will be available from January to April. It also will be in the Brewer’s Choice Variety Pack. Whitewater IPA becomes available in February of 2012 and will be available year round.

According to Samuel Adams, the Alpine Spring has a medium-body with a bright amber color.   The ABV is 5.5 percent.  They use Tettnang hops grown at the bottom of the Alps that impart “elegant citrus and slightly spicy flavors”.  A slightly sweet malt character is achieved by using German Pilsner malt and honey malt.

“A distinctively refreshing brew, Alpine Spring has enough flavor to be satisfying during the early cold temperatures of spring, while keeping things balanced and light to hint at the months to come.”

Samuel Adams Whitewater IPA

The new Samuel Adams Whitewater IPA sounds interesting. I agree with them when they state: “This new style doesn’t quite fit into traditional definitions”. They state that: “Its inspiration came from the crisp spicy wheat character of a white ale perfectly balanced by the intense hop flavor of an IPA”.  The Whitewater IPA uses American and Australian hops imparting a piney, citrusy punch.  A little sweetness is achieved by using a subtle addition of apricot.

I always look forward to trying new beers, whether a new release from a brewery or one I just found.  These two have been added to my list and once I try them, I will let you know what I think of them.
